IsoQure® TT / Metalink U

Dimerised TDI
Kautschuk.com Product ID 0082-52

IsoQure® TT is a solid polyfunctional isocyanate which is absolutely stable under normal storage conditions. It is produced by dimerisation of 2,4´ toluylene di-isocyanate.

IsoQure® TT is very versatile and has applications in many industries. It is used as an adhesion promoter for rubber to fabric bonding, for PVC to fabric bonding, as a vulcanising agent for natural and synthetic rubber and as a crosslinker for heat-activated polyurethane systems.

Chemical name: 1.3 bis(3-isocyanato-4-methylphenyl)-1.3-diazetidin-2.4-dione
CAS No.: 26747-90-0
EINECS No.: 247-953-0

IsoQure® TT has the ability to react under different molecular weights: Under mild reaction conditions, i.e. when reacted with aliphatic hydroxyl groups at temperatures < 140°C in the absence of basic catalysts or with primary or secondary amino groups at room temperature, it is primarily bi-functional and has a molecular weight of 348.
Under severe conditions, either reacted at temperatures > 150°C or at lower temperatures with the aid of highly basic catalysts, it still reacts bi-functional but with a molecular weight of 174 (that of monomeric TDI).

Main applications for IsoQure® TT are:
  • Adhesion promoter for rubber to fabric bonding, especially for polyester cord or reinforcing fabric for i.e. conveyor belts

  • Adhesion promoter for PVC to fabric bonding, i.e. for the production of light-weight conveyor belts for the food industry or for plastisol-coated fabric

  • Vulcanising agent for natural and synthetic rubber, especially for polyurethane rubber like Urepan 600

  • Crosslinker for heat-activated polyurethane coatings, sealants, adhesives, and elastomers
