Applications

Isobond® MW wax emulsions can be used for internal sizing, surface sizing, and as a coating for various paper products. It is also used in latex rubber, ceramics, and applications, where it is desirable to use wax from an aqueous suspension vs. the molten form.

Isobond® MW is used as antioxidant and antiozonant into Resorcinol-Formaldehyde-Latex (RFL) dip solutions for dipping cord and technical fabrics. Its function is very important after dipping, drying and hot stretching/relaxation of fabrics. Isobond MW creates a protection layer on the dip layer, thereby mechanically protecting the dipped fabrics against oxygen and ozone. Most importantly, Isobond MW prevents the loss of adhesion of dipped fabrics to rubber during manipulation, storage, sampling etc.

Processing

With care, Isobond® MW can be used with most bulk storage and automated metering systems. Some separation of wax may occur if excessive internal sheer is induced by certain types of pumps or other driven components. Open impeller pumps, diaphragm pumps, or variable piston pumps are satisfactory. Gear-type pumps may cause the formation of wax deposits and should be avoided.

Storage

The optimum storage and handling temperature range is 21 °C to 40 °C (70 °F to 100 °F). Temperatures below 4 °C (40 °F) can damage the wax emulsion, while temperatures above 41 °C (105 °F) can result in phase separation and skinning. Properly stored it is stable for a minimum of 12 months or longer.

Safety

Based on available toxicological information, these products produce no adverse effects on health when properly handled and used. No special precautions are suggested beyond attention to good personal hygiene, including laundering oil-soaked clothing and washing skin-contact areas with soap and water. Information on use & handling, as well as health and safety information can be found in the Material Safety Data Sheets.

Packaging

Isobond® MW is supplied in bulk rail, tank truck, 2,000 lbs totes and 425 lbs fiber drums.
